The Signal Stay
The Signal Suite – Ireland’s Most Romantic Retreat
Completed in 1862, The Signal Suite was once the heart of Kilmessan Railway Station’s operations—a working signal box housing 38 individual levers used by the Signal Master to direct trains across the station’s converging lines. Today, it has been thoughtfully transformed into a unique luxury suite, where echoes of the past meet the quiet indulgence of contemporary design.
Original architectural features remain, including the striking staircase installed by the Midland Great Western Railway Company. These historic elements are complemented by a carefully curated interior, where understated luxury takes center stage. Contemporary Irish artisan furniture sits effortlessly alongside treasured family antiques, creating a space that feels both timeless and personal.
Fabrics and wallpapers feature a rich blend of influences, from Van Gogh floral prints to textiles by Maison Pierre Frey and Morris & Co., adding layers of texture and narrative to the space. A standout feature is the opulent Victoria & Albert ceramic roll-top bath, placed invitingly within the bedroom—offering an indulgent experience steeped in comfort and romance.
The Signal Suite is more than a place to stay—it’s a destination in itself. With its unique history, exquisite design, and deeply romantic atmosphere, we believe it is Ireland’s most enchanting hotel suite.
