Famed locally for her luxurious Christmas pudding, our queen of the kitchen, Thelma Slattery, invites you to join her for a wonderfully festive afternoon of Christmas baking, stories and fun.

During this hands-on Christmas Pudding Bake-Off, Thelma will share the recipe she has perfected over the years, along with her tricks of the trade for creating a rich, traditional Christmas pudding. You’ll prepare your own pudding mixture, ready to soak overnight before being baked the following morning while you enjoy breakfast.

And, of course, no Christmas pudding would be complete without a little tradition. Give your mixture a stir, make your Christmas wish, and leave the rest to us. Your finished pudding will be beautifully wrapped and ready for you to take home and enjoy on Christmas Day.

Make a Little Break of It

Arrive on Wednesday and settle in over lunch or Cream Tea before joining Thelma for an afternoon filled with festive flavours and Christmas cheer. After the Bake-Off, there’s time to relax before dinner in Signal Restaurant, where Head Chef Gordon Mooney and his team celebrate the very best seasonal Irish and Boyne Valley produce.

The following morning, enjoy a leisurely cooked-to-order breakfast while your Christmas pudding is baked and prepared for its journey home.

If you have some extra time, wrap up and explore our beautiful Boyne Valley surroundings. Complimentary bicycles are available for a cycle to historic Bective Abbey, just 4km away, or the legendary Hill of Tara, 6km from the hotel. Alternatively, enjoy one of the lovely local walks or simply find a cosy spot by the fire and enjoy a little pre-Christmas escape.
